Officers can claim the following allowances for spectacles per year, providing they are fitted with unbreakable lenses:

• Standard lenses - £46.10

• Bi-focals or vari-focals - £56.20

It has also been agreed that a maximum of £46.10 per year can be claimed for contact lenses.

Consideration will also be given to paying for a second pair of spectacles per year, when officers can show they need different prescriptions for different jobs, e.g. driving or using VDUs.
