In addition to claiming for federation subscriptions, a Police Officer can claim on his/her tax returns £110 'flat rate job expenses' . This is an agreed allowance with the Inland Revenue in relation to the purchase of hosiery etc. This is the increased rate applicable from 6th April 2007, and your tax code should be amended automatically from the end of July 2007. Members do not need to contact their tax office unless they do not receive an amended tax code by this date.

*(With effect from 1st January 2006, subscriptions to the Police Federation will increase by 12p per week to £16.12 p.c.m. In line with this increase, the Joint Central Fund death benefit will be increased to £2,495. This may be claimed in respect of the death of a serving contributing member)
